Frequently asked questions
We’ve put together a range of questions and answers to help you feel confident and trusting in your choice of quality childcare.
Our staff team
What qualifications do your staff have?
The staff in that section must hold at least a full and relevant Level 3 qualification. Many of our management team also hold an Early Years degree. All staff are either Level 2 or Level 3 qualified, as a minimum. We support staff to progress through further qualifications. In addition, they undertake regular training, which includes paediatric first aid, safeguarding children and food safety.
What are the ratios of staff to children?
We work to staff:child ratios set by the government, which are: under 2 year olds – 1:3; 2 year olds – 1:4; 3 and over – 1:8. We also have additional staff based within the rooms who work outside of the ratios, including Montessori teachers, qualified teachers and kitchen staff. The staff are always available for parents and to support the rooms within the nursery.
Will my child have a key person, and how many other children does that key person have?
Each child will be assigned a key person, whose role is to help build a secure relationship with both you and your child and be the person who ensures the care is tailored to your child’s needs. The number of children they have will depend on the size of the room and the days the children attend.
What types of meals and snacks do you provide
We maintain good food hygiene practice and provide information on any allergens contained in the food we provide. We will work closely with you to meet any dietary requirements of your child. Breakfast, snacks and tea are prepared at the nursery and offer a range of nutritional and healthy choices.
Can the children in all rooms access an outdoor area on a daily basis?
The children in each room access the outdoor environment at least twice a day. Some of our rooms also have direct access to an outdoor environment and are able to operate this on a free-flow basis, where children can choose whether to play indoors or outdoors. The nursery also plans outings where children get the opportunity to be part of their local community.
Where are babies put to sleep?
Each of our preschool has a separate sleep room equipped with individual cots. The sleep rooms are cosy and comforting to ensure your child sleeps well during their day at nursery. Staff carry out regular checks on sleeping children and monitor the temperature of the room.
